Sitters for Scholars Announces Temporary Suspension of Services

The Sitters for Scholars Board has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend its free in-home babysitting services to low-income student parents in the Boston area, effective May 31, 2025.

Since 2014, Sitters for Scholars has provided free, vetted babysitting in the home to low-income student parents who need care for their children while they are in class or studying. With the rise of remote and digital school programs, we find ourselves needing to evaluate our model to ensure that we're providing maximum value to the student parents that we seek to serve.

As we wrap up the 2025 Spring Semester, we'll be engaging with current and past SFS student parents and volunteer sitters, as well as our educational and nonprofit service partners to identify program changes that will better serve student parents going forward.

We are grateful to all who have supported Sitters for Scholars over the past ten years.

Your generosity in volunteering your time, offering wise advice, and enthusiastically funding this nonprofit has truly made a difference in the lives of many who are striving to advance their education and their family’s well being.

We look forward to reporting back to you soon on our progress. In the meantime, you can continue to reach us at info@sittersforscholars.org.
